At Instinct™, we are committed to making a positive impact on the environment and our community. Sustainability is core to our ethos and critical to how Instinct™ products are made. 

We know that many companies just pay lip service to sustainability, or claim their shoes are environmentally friendly and ethically made. In reality this is not possible with current materials and production processes. We are different, while it's not yet possible to produce a fully ethical and sustainable sneaker, Instinct™ is constantly pushing the boundaries to get as close as possible and we are constantly searching for new ways to make products in the highest quality, most ethical and environmentally friendly way possible.

Vegan Low Impact Footwear

When we say our footwear is vegan, low impact and has a 51% recycled XL Extralight sole, what does this actually mean?

• Vegan: we use leather-like materials with a polyurethane (PU) level of only 10% to keep to the low impact ethos of The House of Instinct whilst ensuring the products are durable and wearable.
• Corn fabric lining: made with corn, this fabric is heard wearing and very comfortable on your feet.
• Natural cork footbeds: extremely comfortable as it moulds to your foot, environmentally friendly and odour resistant as well.  
• Recycled XL Extralight soles: GRS Certified and made with 51% post industrial scraps. This is the new highest percentage of recycled content available today and is the new industry standard. By using recycled XL Extralight, we’re reducing the amount of raw petroleum extracted from the earth and decreasing pollution of our precious groundwater and rivers. Lastly, the soles are hard wearing and made to last, as confirmed through firsthand weartesting.

At Instinct™, we believe that sustainability is not just a buzzword, but a way of life. That’s why we use non-toxic materials like water-based glues and bio-cottons. And when it’s time for repairs, we’ve got you covered. Our footwear is made to last and will usually be able to be repaired and resoled when needed. Lastly,  to further reduce the impact we have on the environment, for every pair sold we will plant a tree in carefully selected projects.
